A love/hate time

This is the time of the year that I absolutely LOVE. With all the spring blooms and beautiful colors. New growth from the buds on the trees, flowers and perinials. But it also means new little, helpless lives are all around in the yard. We have been watching a sweet little bird family right outside our window all this past weekend. I think they are some kind of quails?? The baby hangs out in the mulch area in front of our living rm window, walking around bobbing its little head, and every once in awhile the mom and dad bring it food back. We are so close, we can actually see the mom putting her beak into the baby's mouth, feeding it. So cool, but today, I came home and saw the baby bird all alone in the grass further out in the yard with its wings spread out, trying to walk. I watched it for awhile, and have not seen the parents at all!! Where the heck are they?! I placed gloves on and got the dust pan from the garage and gently lifted it over back to the mulch area under a tree, hopefully safe from preditors. Now, I have to keep looking out the window and checking on it....I hate this part of it....worry. On line, I did some research, and they said to put it under a tree -done - and leave it there. It is better for a predator to get it (yikes) than for a human to bring it in, and TRY to care for it, but only giving it a slow, drawn out death, by not caring for it properly. Oh, man!! I hope and pray the parents show up soon!! It is cold out today, and I am sure it is hungry. I had Brooke say a sweet little prayer to God for it:) I'll keep you posted.
Oh, and by the way, the bathroom remodel is at a standstill. The floor is down, but we are awaiting a plumber....seems we have some work that must be done before we finish. I will post a pic once it is all complete!!
*** Oh, I just went out to take a pic of the baby bird...I don't think he is alive, I wonder what happened to him, dear little thing:(

You have such a kind heart Carol, it really is refreshing to know there are people out there like you. That is a baby bird, it looks awfully big to me, maybe it is just the photo. Poor little bird. :(

Looks like a baby Dove. You were so sweet to try and help it. We have so many cats in our neighborhood - baby birds don't have a chance.

(IN)COURAGE -SO great...check it out!
